| "He woke to birdsong echoing through hazy green light as the sun squinted down at through an impossibly high canopy of verdant green. He lay there for a few moments enjoying the warmth of dappled light and the quite slosh of water before sitting up and letting the covers pool around his waist...Shaun rubbed halfheartedly at his eyes only then realizing the bed was set adrift on an endless plain of water...Shaun watched passively, noticing after a while that his sleeptime raft was sinking as well. For one frightening moment as the water swamped the bed, he was afraid. Afraid of letting go, afraid of holding on. It looked like drowning either way. The water lifted him up even as it crowded over his nose and mouth." |
