I'm thrilled with how this scene came out. "Battlefield" is from my second book 'Legacy of Stone'. Enjoy the image and the passage.

"A sudden movement caught in his blurry vision. Shaun lifted his head slowly. A figure moved through the battlefield with sure steps. It stopped periodically leaning down to peer at a body now and then. Shaun almost called out. The cry strangled him as the figure walked within sight. He was huge. Black plate armor covered every inch of him. In his grip a lethal obsidian blade defied the light. It's deadly tip dragged the ground. Shaun stared at the specter. The black knight jerked around as if he could feel Shaun's eyes upon him. It moved towards him ignoring the bodies of the dead underfoot."
